Privacy Policy

PourCost (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data when you use our mobile applications (iOS and Android), web application, and website (collectively, “the Service”).

By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. If you sign in using Google or Facebook, we receive your name and email from those providers. During onboarding, you may provide a display name.

Profile & Preferences

We store your app preferences including pour cost goal, default pour size, default retail price, measurement preferences (US or metric), ingredient sort order, and theme setting. These are synced to your account so they persist across devices.

Business Data

You may enter ingredients (names, costs, volumes, categories), cocktail recipes (ingredients, measurements, pricing), and business-specific information. This data is yours — we process and store it solely to provide the Service.

Invoice Data

When you use our invoice scanning feature, we collect:

• Photos of distributor invoices captured through your device camera or photo library
• Text extracted from those images via optical character recognition (OCR)
• Structured line-item data (product names, quantities, prices) extracted by our AI processing

Device & Usage Data

We may collect basic device information (operating system, app version) and usage patterns (features used, session frequency) to improve the Service. We do not collect precise location data.

We use your data to:

• Provide the Service — calculate costs, manage recipes, process invoices, generate AI analysis and training materials
• Sync your data across devices via your authenticated account
• Improve accuracy of invoice scanning and product matching over time
• Communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support requests
• Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security threats

We do not use your proprietary recipes, pricing data, or business information for any purpose other than delivering the Service to you. We do not sell your data.

PourCost uses the following third-party services to operate:

Supabase

Our backend infrastructure provider. Handles authentication, database storage, file storage, and serverless functions. Your data is stored in Supabase-managed PostgreSQL databases. For details, see Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Anthropic (Claude AI)

When you scan an invoice, the extracted OCR text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI via a secure server-side function for structured data extraction. Invoice images themselves are not sent to Anthropic — only the text output from OCR processing.

AI is also used for menu analysis, pricing suggestions, and study guide generation. In these cases, your recipe and ingredient data is processed by Claude to generate insights. Anthropic does not use data sent via their API to train their models. For details, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Google & Facebook Authentication

If you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, those providers share your name and email with us to create your account. We do not access your Google or Facebook contacts, posts, or other profile data. Refer to Google's and Meta's privacy policies for their data practices.

Your data is stored in cloud databases managed by Supabase, with servers located in the United States. Sensitive credentials (authentication tokens) are stored on your device using platform-secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore via Expo SecureStore).

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), row-level security policies on our database, and secure server-side processing for AI features. No client application ever has direct access to other users' data.

While we take reasonable precautions, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and business data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.

Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., general usage statistics) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of non-essential data processing

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including data access, rectification, erasure, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is contract performance (providing the Service you signed up for) and legitimate interest (improving the Service).

PourCost is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

Our web application may use cookies and local storage for authentication and preferences. Our mobile apps use on-device storage (AsyncStorage, SQLite, SecureStore) for caching and offline functionality. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising pixels.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
