Adopt from Library

PourCost ships with a library of classic and modern recipes. Adoption maps them to the bottles you actually carry.

Updated May 6, 2026

The recipe library is a starting point. Hundreds of classics with original specs. Adoption is the step that turns a generic recipe into one priced against your real inventory.

How adoption works

  1. Open Cocktails and tap the library tab.
  2. Pick a recipe. The screen shows the original spec.
  3. Tap Adopt. PourCost scans your inventory for matches.
  4. Review the suggested mapping. "Gin" might match your house gin; "sweet vermouth" might match the Carpano Antica you carry.
  5. Adjust any mappings you don't like (tap to swap to a different bottle).
  6. Save. The cocktail joins your menu, costed and priced.

How matching decides

  • Wells fill in for generic categories: "vodka" maps to your well vodka.
  • Brand-named ingredients in the recipe match brand-named ingredients in your inventory.
  • When the recipe calls for something you don't carry, you can substitute or skip.

Tip

Set up your wells first. Adoption gets dramatically better once PourCost knows what your house pours are. See Wells, Calls, and the Tier Ladder.
