Add an Ingredient

From an empty bar to a fully costed bottle, with sizes and pour cost dialed in.

Ingredients are the foundation. Every cocktail, every invoice match, every report rolls up from this list. Adding one well is worth a minute of care.

The flow

  1. Open Bar Inventory and tap the plus button at the top right.
  2. Search the catalog. Type the brand or product name. The catalog covers most distributed spirits, beer, and wine, plus common modifiers and mixers.
  3. Pick a match. The form pre-fills with type, default container size, and a starter cost.
  4. Adjust the cost to what you actually pay. Cost per ounce updates as you type.
  5. Confirm or change the pour size. The default is set per type in Settings (1.5oz spirits, 5oz wine, 12oz beer, and so on).
  6. Save. The ingredient lands in your inventory list.

What each field does

  • Type. Drives default pour size and which pour cost target applies (spirit goes to the tier ladder; beer and wine have their own goals).
  • Container size. What you buy. 750ml, 1L, 1.75L for spirits; 12oz, 16oz cans; 750ml wine bottles.
  • Cost. Your purchase price for one container. Distributor invoice number, not retail.
  • Pour size. Default pour for this product. Override on a recipe if a specific drink calls for more or less.

Tip

Don't type from scratch when the catalog has a match. Catalog ingredients carry brand metadata (origin, parent company, flavor notes) that powers search and recipe adoption later.
